With Christmas nearly upon us many of us feel the need to decorate our homes so we can fully appreciate that fabulous festive feeling. More often than not though, Christmas decorations are confined to the living room. Why not go one step further this year and add a touch of Christmas cheer throughout your home?
We've put together 10 Christmas decoration ideas we're sure will help you create your cosiest Christmas ever!
- One really cute Christmas decoration idea is to hang festive trinkets on a branch in a corner of a room. Of course, likewise, these decorations can be hung on your Christmas tree.
- If you have a fireplace that you do not use, place little lights in domed glasses and put them in the hearth. This is an ideal way to create a warm festive atmosphere.
- Place a blackboard in a corner, in the kitchen perhaps, or even outside so that you can write chalky Christmas wishes or thoughts. Get the kids involved - they'll love coming up with ideas!
- Put fairy lights in the log basket. Outside or in, this will add a truly festive feel.
- Don't forget the Christmas wreath, especially for the front door. But don't think you have to stop there. You could put Christmas wreaths on all the doors with apt themes. For example, a kitchen door wreath could include Christmas spices or candy.
- Decorate the light overhanging your dining table with baubles.
- Add red to your living room. A runner, red cushions or fabrics with Christmassy designs will lend a cosy festive feeling to the room.
- Make the mantelpiece your focal point. Decorate it with baubles, tinsel, greenery, fairy lights and snowflakes.
- Gather pine cones and let your imagination do the rest. Wreaths, garlands, candleholders and trees can all be fashioned with a touch of glitter, glue and a smattering of snow spray and creativity. Place your designs all over the home - and don't forget the oft neglected bathroom!
- Last but not least, don't forget the windows. Candles, stencils and snow spray, baubles…..you could even hang some festive ginger bread.
Merry Christmas! Ho! Ho! Ho!
